Bicycle tour during the Amsterdam Light Festival

During the Amsterdam Light Festival, artists, architects, and designers from all over the world showcase Amsterdam’s heritage in a special way. Their light artworks are designed and created especially for the festival. A-Bike organises a bicycle tour lasting one hour and 30 minutes, every day of the week, which goes past the highligts of the land and water exposition. The bilingual guides (Dutch and English) will tell you everything about the light artworks and the artists. The starting point of the tour is A-Bike Dam Square.

The theme “disrupt”

The exhibition will be focussed completely on the theme “disrupt” in edition 8 of the Amsterdam Light Festival. All artists focussed completely on displaying the disruptions in our daily live in to their arworks.
Whether these disruptions are caused by nature (earthquackes, storms) or by humans (climate change). During the bike tour our guides will explain you everything about the theme, artworks and the link between both.

What will you see during the A-Bike Light Festival Tour?

Over 600 submissions by artists from 45 countries were sent in for the Amsterdam Light Festival 2019. From this selection, the organisation chose 20 surprising light artworks and installations. For the seventh edition, artists from home and abroad take you on a journey along 20 light artworks specially created for Amsterdam. The 53-day exhibition revolves around the theme ‘Disrupt’, focussing on all disruption of daily life. Wether it is due to natural phenomena or caused by humans.
